What is the significance of Macbeth upsetting the Great Chain of Being? How does Shakespeare indicate this change in the hierarchy of Scottish society? What other facets of the world does Duncan's murder affect?

in that time period, the great chain of being is all the people had and it couldnt be interrupted. When duncan is killed, shakespeare shows what happens when the balance is upset by telling us that the owl ate the hawk and the horses are eating eachother, which isnt normal. Macbeth becomes king.

The Great Chain of being is what all the people believed in it was what all they believed in. Then Shakespeare shows this when Duncan is murdered and Macbeth is made king. He brings this fact out by telling us about the hawk and the owl and the horses.

This is important because it is the beginning of our understanding the magnitude if what Macbeth has done. Shakespeare shows this by the description of mammals eating mammals by Ross and the old man.The weather.

The old man tells us about this up set in the chain. By killing Duncan there is a break in the chain. Everything is affected the weather is even changing. In the play every time there is a storm something bad happened or is going to happen. Shakespeare show the beliefs of the time by talking about it and showing the world changing because of this one event.
